rundeck.log is empty after debian installation

Reported by Charles Scott | November 22nd, 2011 @ 10:43 AM | in Rundeck 1.4.1 (closed)

I just installed debian rundeck-1.4.0.2-1.deb:

root@jenkins-development:~/workspace/rundeck# dpkg -i rundeck-1.4.0.2-1.deb
Selecting previously deselected package rundeck.
(Reading database ... 51581 files and directories currently installed.) Unpacking rundeck (from rundeck-1.4.0.2-1.deb) ...
Setting up rundeck (1.4.0.2) ...
Adding group rundeck....done
Adding system user rundeck....done

Processing triggers for ureadahead ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...

after starting the service the rundeck.log is conspicuously empty.

root@jenkins-development:~/workspace/rundeck# service rundeckd start
rundeckd start/running, process 26322
root@jenkins-development:~/workspace/rundeck# ls -rtl /var/log/rundeck/
total 8
-rw-rw-r-- 1 rundeck adm 0 2011-11-22 10:31 rundeck.log

After creating a project the audit log shows but rundeck.log remains empty:

root@jenkins-development:~/workspace/rundeck# ls -rtl /var/log/rundeck/
total 8
-rw-rw-r-- 1 rundeck adm 0 2011-11-22 10:31 rundeck.log -rw-rw-r-- 1 rundeck adm 7444 2011-11-22 10:35 rundeck.audit.log
