Provide a resources.d directory per project so multiple files containing resources can exist
Reported by Deleted User | December 16th, 2010 @ 05:41 PM | in Rundeck 1.4 (closed)
The single file becomes cumbersome to manage, it would be helpful to drop a number of files into a directory.

Should we support merging data? Imagine one file contains basic info like name, hostname while a different file supplies tags.

That's probably not a bad idea. Perhaps, the files are read in locale sorted order and any entry can be extended by a later resources.xml file.

Came across where this would be helpful. There are a certain number of Node definitions that need to exist outside those generated from a resource model generator. These can be special servers (monitoring, log hosts, build servers, etc.) that do not reside in the same environment.

this is available as the "Directory" resource model source provider. it can be configured in project.properties or via the GUI.
we might consider configuring it by default for new projects
