Configure Rundeck to run with SSL turned on by default
Reported by Deleted User | November 23rd, 2010 @ 02:55 PM
The default configuration for rundeck should be ssl enabled (with a redirect from non ssl connections to make it non-painful if you forget https).
A temporary certificate should be generated that expires in 20 years and an admin page to change the certificate. This should be part of building a new package.

This requires updating client-side configuration as well I believe, to allow client https requests to trust the certificate provided by the server

The certificate will be temporary. You'll get that unknown/trusted certificate warning. It'll be a post install step to create a crt for their own environment.

The new install flow. Ship with non-https on and https on with the default certificate we generate for the release. This gets all tools communicating over ssl in a more secure fashion. During the first login, the user is prompted to generate a new certificate for the install. This replaces the default certificate. After that, the non-ssl port will redirect to the https port.
