Previous version of a job "Edit Job" on follow page takes you to latest job definition

Reported by Deleted User | November 2nd, 2010 @ 03:06 PM | in Rundeck 1.0

If I...

  • Create an job and execute
  • Modify the job and execute
  • Go to the previous run and click the edit job definition -> It takes you to the new job definition.

I think it would take you to a "new job" form with the input available.

it's a good question: jobs are mutable, and executions are associated with them. should an execution maintain that association if the job definition changes?

the execution has its own stored details, so viewing an Execution should allow you to re-run using those details. this is what is shown for ad-hoc executions.

I think Job definition and Execution should be more clearly separated. currently the view page for a job execution glosses over the difference by showing the Job header details as if they were directly related to the execution...
