Unable to run rd_check

Invoking rd_check generates the following error:
/rd-check: syntax error at line 26: PDIR=$'
unexpected

I duplicated this error under both the ksh and bash.

Martin, I think the problem is the script has bash syntax despite the declaration of Bourne shell (#!/bin/sh).
Can you modify that script to use #!/bin/bash just to confirm?

defer as rd-check may not be relevant anymore anyway
